Blame God?

One thing that I get tired of these days is the type of people who attempt to blame God for all their troubles.

I ran across one woman in an online forum not so long ago who stated that she just couldn’t believe in God as presented in the Bible. A little more questioning revealed that she had committed sin (adultery), hardened her heart and refused to repent when confronted with Scripture so her pastor requested she not come back to that particular church.

Basically she was now reaping what she had sown. She just couldn’t believe that the Lord would not be of the attitude that “it’s all good, don’t worry about what Scripture says and do your own thing.” I actually was more shocked to hear there are actually still churches today that will police their own poisons and stand on the truth of God’s Word as absolute.

However, this particular woman did not really enjoy reaping her just rewards so she had to go and search out a new “make your own idea of god” sort of god that was all about peace, love and happiness but never any judgment whatsoever.

Guess it never dawned on her that if she repented she might have been allowed to stay at her church? How sad really. The woman rejected the truth of God’s perfect character and traded it in on a lie. The lie being God never judges anything so you can do whatever you feel like doing. There are not any concepts of “right” and “wrong” just do whatever makes you feel good.

Certainly God is love, more than we could ever imagine this side of Heaven.

For starters, He provided for a method to atone of our sins. If the Lord gave us what we truly deserved all of us would all be well overdue for the proverbial bolt of lightning. But the Lord is longsuffering and patient with us and gives us time to repent and seek Him.

However, while God is certainly love, He is also the same God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob that we find in the Old Testament that severely judged at times. God’s character is perfect, it cannot change so why do some act surprised when they finally stray far enough that the Lord has to use a 2 x 4 to get their attention? On a larger scale, there is a time coming when God’s judgment will again fall on the Christ rejecting world during a seven year period of tribulation. God is at present being longsuffering and giving any that would choose to do so a time to repent and seek Salvation through the blood of Christ. But at some point, this time of Grace will end, the church will be removed to Heaven and the wrath of God will be poured out full measure on the Christ rejecting world.

“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.” (Galatians 6:7)

Why would someone be angry with God when they were reaping what they had sown?

God already told us beforehand that is what would happen. In many cases, it isn’t even so much a case of God “judging” as it is that He will not stand in the way of our reaping the consequences that stem from our willful disobedience.

There is something that many today do not understand. When God created man, we were placed in the garden and had perfect fellowship with God. We had no trials or problems. Perfect peace was the order of the day.

But later Satan came along and was successful in tempting Adam and Eve into disobeying God and eating the forbidden fruit. It was this disobedience to God that took Adam and Eve out of fellowship with God. This same act was also an act of obedience to Satan that brought them into submission to Satan. At that point man forfeited the right to the earth. In effect, the title deed of the earth was passed over to Satan and the world became Satan’s.

We see proof of this when Jesus was tempted in the wilderness by Satan himself.

“Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.” Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.’” (Matthew 4:8-10)

There is an entire lesson in itself in how Jesus answered all of Satan’s temptations with Scripture. But notice here that Satan claimed the power to give the kingdoms of the earth to whomever he wanted and Jesus did not dispute the fact because Satan’s claim was valid.

Satan for the time being can give the kingdoms of the earth to whomever he so desires. And he will give them to one who is yet to come that is more commonly know as the Anti-Christ. This hasn’t happened as yet, but it will because the word of God as recorded in Scripture says it will in the prophecies.

Jesus came to this earth to redeem the world back to God from Satan. But this has not happened yet. God will allow man to continue as is for some time but not forever. God has a plan and Jesus died on the cross to qualify Him as the only one able to redeem the earth and pay for our sins. In Revelation 5 we see the scroll with seven seals that will be opened. This scroll is the title deed to the earth and Jesus is the only one found on earth or in heaven worthy to open the seals.

But the Lord is long suffering and for now if we choose to reject Him and live in rebellion the Lord will allow it.

This entire world is under Satan’s dominion at present and what you see in the majority of the world today is open rebellion against God and His laws.

So it is interesting to me that some would try to blame God for things wrong in this world. You can’t blame God for starvation, wars, child molesters and all the other bad things in the world today. These are a result of man’s rebellion against God. After the seven year period of tribulation Jesus will return to set up His Kingdom here on earth and there will no longer be these issues. Don’t blame God in the mean time, blame Satan and man’s rebellion against God.

If you reap in your life personally what you have sown. Don’t get bitter at God. Instead simply repent of your sins and confess in agreement with God that what you did is wrong. If you have wronged a person and they have something against you, go make it right and confess your wrong doing to them before you approach God’s alter. This is what Jesus told us to do in Matthew 5:23 – 24.

Talk about making a concerted effort to bury your head in the sand? To blame God and try to reject His word in preference to some man invented concept of “god” that is of a mind that you can do whatever you want because it’s all good and all about love.

That is just delusional. I truly feel sad for some that will not give up doing their “own thing” due to pride and rebellion against God. Sadly they will find themselves in the wilderness due to having no fellowship with God through Jesus.
