So if God is love, why would He send someone to hell?

So if God is love, why would He send someone to hell?

First, it is important to understand that God created us with a free will that He will not violate. He created us this way because He desires a relationship with us and not a bunch of mindless drones who only love Him because we have no other option. Think about it, if the significant people in your life were more like robots and only loved you because they were programmed that way would you really have a relationship with them or would they be more like your computer?

The Bible declares that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” in Romans 3:23. But the Bible also tells us in John 3:16 that “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

Maybe we need to change our way of thinking regarding this question sometimes. At birth every person is headed for hell since we are all sinners, but the Lord has displayed His mercy by providing a way for our escape. He provided our means of escape by leaving Heaven becoming a man only to be crucified on the cross to pay the sin debt we could never pay. All we have required of us despite our many sins is to simply believe on God’s provision in Faith. Is that not the ultimate display of mercy and love?

Hell was originally created for Satan and his angels it was not designed for humans. The problem is sin cannot be where God is in Heaven and we are created with an eternal soul that lives on after our bodily flesh dies. So when we reject God’s offer of salvation we leave Him no choice but to send us to hell because we cannot go to Heaven with sin that is not covered over with the atoning blood of Jesus’ sacrifice on the Cross. The only way to end up in hell is by our choice to reject God’s offer of salvation and join Satan in rejecting God. It is our choice and God will not violate our free will to make that choice. To put it another way, If you reject God's provision for the forgiveness of your sins, then you will join the Devil who rejected God from the beginning.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9

The hazard of our free will we have is that we can choose to reject God and His free gift of Salvation and follow after what would seem right to us. I have told people many times that God will not drag anyone kicking and screaming against their will into Heaven but no one will ever go to hell without Jesus standing in their way with His offer of Salvation.

In addressing the issue of Salvation, I am not referring to knowledge “about” Jesus or having been baptized as a baby or even attending church on a weekly basis. Those things are useless religion without asking Jesus to come live in your heart to change it to seek after Him. This is what James was referring to when he wrote…James 2:19 "Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble." The devil knows full well the truth and that Jesus is the Messiah but this knowledge without repentance is simply academic knowledge that will save no one.

If you are visiting this blog, you have read the Gospel by now which means you have a choice. You can accept and believe God’s provision designed to keep us out of hell or you can reject it and choose to spend eternity separated from God. Your works will never “cut it” to get you into Heaven.

None of us are promised tomorrow so don’t wait. If you can understand what I am saying and can feel the Lord tugging on your heart, accept salvation today. Scripture declares today is the day of salvation and how do you know you will not die today? Not one of us is promised a tomorrow or even the next five minutes.

Are you a good person?

How many times have we all said something like this, "I am a good person and certainly much better than a lot of other people. Why do I need a savior or salvation?"

But do you realize you do indeed need a Savior and the only Savior that is useful for getting you to Heaven is Jesus Christ?

Are you a "good person" in comparison to other people or in comparison to God who is perfect in His character?

You may claim that you are good , but God claims otherwise in Psalm 14:2-3.

Isaiah 64:6 tells us that in the eyes of God, "all our righteous acts are like filthy rags."

We all are sinners by nature as Romans 3:23 points out, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

"As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one:" Romans 3:10

Sin means missing the mark of perfection, one sin makes us a sinner and God can not have fellowship with us because of our sins. The sin nature is inherent in us.

So how do we find favor with God?

The answer is, having "faith" in Jesus. It is through Him that we can have fellowship with God.

Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

Paul sums up the only way to obtain salvation in Romans 10:9, "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."

If you want to invite Jesus into your life and find that eternal life, say this prayer with us:

"Lord Jesus, I need You. Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive You as my Savior and Lord. Thank You for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of the throne of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be." Amen.
